FMX Riders

Put on your helmets, it’s time to do some FMX with this awesome FMX Riders by The Quadsphere!

This toony game is great for a casual play, when you don’t want to think too hard about anything. Just hop on your bike and start running.

Pull out a few stunts once in a while, and you’ll have a good time.

By default, you will control the biker using tilt and with auto-throttle activated. The stunts will be controlled by swipe movements. However, you can change the tilt control to touch control, and disable the auto-throttle, and do it manually. Up to you, the app gives you that choice.

The mains features are (as from the developer):

* Universal
* Colorful Art Style
* 4 Game modes : Race, Freestyle, Time Attack and Hotlap Time Attack
* World Circuit Career mode with 9 Tours and over 40 events
* Online Multiplayer via Game Center with Auto Matchmaking
* Game Center Global Leaderboards and Achievements
* Save and share replays with your Game Center friends
* Intuitive Tilt and Touch controls
* Retina DisplayFMX Riders on the AppStore

This game is currently FREE for a limited time, so no harm done!

Reckless Racing 2

Finally the day has arrived. After making a review about Reckless Racing, we had the pleasure to come back for seconds and grabbed this amazing Reckless Racing 2 by Polarbit and Pixelbite.

That’s right, the sequel is here at last! And damn, it is fantastic!

It has improved a lot, and now the content depth is insane, so you better go for it!

The controls are the same as the first edition. Four arrows to accelerate, brake, turn left and right. Of course this is customizable (even the position and size of the arrows) and you can change it to other modes, including tilting and auto gas, where the pedal is already to the metal and your job is to turn and brake.

The graphics also have improved and it looks great on iPhone and iPad. The effects only add to the thrill of playing it.

Even more: in this new version of Reckless Racing, you get to buy cars and improve them by buying parts that will have effects in speed, acceleration and handling.

So basically you start with a piece of junk, and as progress in your career by racing, you earn money that you can spend on those upgrades.

So you have 16 cars, and each one you can tune up differently. You can also paint it and buy rims, just for kicks.

Reckless Racing was great, Reckless Racing 2 is even better, trust me.

Other than career, you can also play in Arcade, Single Event and Multiplayer modes.

Do I need to point out that the Multiplayer mode is off the hook? I shouldn’t, but hey, it is!

Playing online is one of the most amusing experiences you can have in racing these little machines. As I said in the previous review of Reckless Racing, what you want to do is to gather as many friends as possible to play together on the same server. There are lots of laughs to be extracted from the multiplayer mode.

Reckless Racing 2 is universal, and that means you buy once and play it in all your iOS devices.

Many thanks to Polarbit and specially to Pixelbite for providing us an early hands-on on this baby.

Reckless Racing

Fasten your seatbelts, we’re about to speed up a little bit with this fantastic Reckless Racing by Pixelbite and Polarbit (sold by Electronic Arts).

This game is pure fun from the get-go. With awesome controls and graphics, this little app will steal hours from your life, and you’ll be thankful for it!

Get behind the wheel of your car (choose from a list of fun vehicles) and smoke your opponents to oblivion.

The tracks are amazing, well detailed, and you’ll have the opportunity of racing on it in normal or backroad track mode (inverse direction)

The controls are delightful to use. Four arrows: speed up, brake, left right. That’s all you need to play this game.

Depending on the track, you’ll make hard turns or drift. There are tracks where you’ll be drifting most of the time, in fact. But don’t worry, drifting in Reckless Racing is easy and lots of fun.

But the REAL gem here in this game is the multiplayer mode.

I play it whenever I can and I must say I usually laugh ’till I crash. It’s just hilarious the way people can crash or make you crash.

Word of advice: if you have a friend (or more) who has this installed as well, meet him in person somewhere and open a server room to play this game. You’ll both have tons of fun, I promise.

The physics of this game makes it unique. Piloting the vehicles feel just right, and it’s so simple and intuitive.

There are enough tracks to get you entertained for a long time, even in offline mode (add to that the fact that you can race them backwards as well).

This game is addictive, challenging and fun, so what’s keeping you?

This game is available for iPhone and iPad in different apps. You can try out the game in a free version for iPhone, with limited gameplay (see link below).

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline

It seems the XMas spirits are flowing freely around the app developers, as everyday we see awesome apps drop their prices to the null value. Hey, I’m not complaining…

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline by Gameloft is one of them.

If you are a speed fan and if you love car racing, this is an opportunity that you can’t miss.

Its physics are not perfectly realist and there is a fantasy side to it (for example, grabbing turbo “icons” from the middle of the road), but the graphics quality reminds us of Real Racing 2. I’m not saying it is the same. It isn’t. But this Asphalt 6 has a quicker fun factor.

You get to the race faster, you drift and you get power ups from the middle of the track, and all that with awesome backgrounds and textures.

There is a monetary aspect to it. You win races and perform “stunts” to get you cash. With that cash, you’ll be able to get new cars, bikes, and improvements.

To see it in action, check the video below. Don’t forget, it’s free for a limited time, both for iPhone or iPads.

Mad Skills Motocross

I’ve never been into motorcycles, but I must admit they are fun in movies and games.

In that spirit, you can find Mad Skills Motocross by Turborilla free for a limited time on the AppStore.

Race against the AI or a friend (via openfeint ghosts), beat your own record, and perform nice stunts in your way to speed and dirt.

This game has very nice graphics. Nothing very complex, but it just works. The controls are easy enough (5 buttons maximum), so you won’t be entangling your fingers too much.

This casual game will maintain you entertained for quite a while.

Check the video below with some gameplay and enjoy yourself while this game is still free. Also, it is universal.

Six-Guns

First of all, let’s set the mood:

That’s right, we’re talking cowboys now.

Six-Guns by Gameloft is an amazing “I-can’t-believe-it’s-free” game.

Gameloft did it this time. In a mega huge world of cowboys, thieves, snakes and monsters (yup, monsters too), you will be allowed to make a name for yourself shooting, racing, foraging herbs, and completing many other missions.

In this game, you are your own boss. You may choose to do missions, or just explore the world, find treasure chests, collect money and buy new shiny stuff.

Of course, due to the nature of the game, most times you’ll be asked to shoot and be shot at. Those were the days alright.

The user interface is simple enough, but there is room for improvement. The finger you use to aim is the same you must use to shoot, and that doesn’t make things any easier. But again, totally manageable. If Clint Eastwood was capable of it, so are you. You just need to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk? (it was stronger than me, even tho this quote isn’t from a western movie).

The horse races are awesome and the graphics of the game are astonishing.

For each mission you complete, you get money that can be used to buy weapons, clothing, upgrades, horses, and monster specific stuff.

This is really a game that is too good to be free, but I guess that’s why they call it freemium. With a little bit of real money, you can buy the best weapons and upgrades, so I guess they still get their income (maybe more than if the game was paid and all weapons free).

Six-Guns is free and universal (we do love universal games, don’t we?).

Get it, install it, love it, and thank me later.

Check the video below if you’re having second thoughts.

Reckless Getaway

This one reminds me of my good ol’ days of playing GTA just for the sake of causing complete and total mayhem. We all love a good portion of mayhem (in games only, of course!) and this app is just what the doctor prescribed.

Reckless Getaway, by Polarbit and Pixelbite is so fun, it’s not even funny (wait… what?).

This image alone should convince you to download it

You are behind the wheel of a getaway car, and your goal is to get to the state border without getting caught or dying. Because  dying is always a bad way to end things.

The controls are awesome. You don’t have to worry about a thing. Two arrows are all you need. One to the left, one to the right. The car will even auto accelerate for you. Just focus on steering, forget about the pedals.

Make your way through traffic, and watch out for the cops, they are faster than you (at least initially) and they will try to get you to crash. No politically correct here. No trained controlled procedures. They will just crash onto you any way they can.

As expected, you get points for crashing into other cars, specially if they are black-and-whites. You also get points for jumping over cars, using conveniently placed ramps on the road, or one of the many power ups you can grab on the way.

It’s a Universal app and it’s currently free (yup, I know, what are they thinking, right?) for grabs.

So stop whatever what you’re doing and install this. It’s fun fun fun.

Check the video below while you install it.

Real Racing 2 HD

Since the old Playstation days I am a fan of the Gran Turismo kind of games.
You start with a slow common car, start winning races, and end up buying top-notch tuned cars that would need an Airbus 380 runway to stop.

That’s the purpose of Real Racing 2 [HD], by Firemint Pty Ltd.
It is a glorious game, with even better graphics, if you’re using the HD version in an iPad 2. I’m just saying. It’s not even funny.

Real Racing 2 HD nailed it right on the spot, and it’s meant to be played for hours nonstop. Of course the fun bit of the game is the career mode, where you work your way up through races and duels, earn money, tune up your car and paint it.

However, you may be in the mood for just a quick race. Well, what do you know… there is a “Quick Race” option in the main menu. Tap it, choose the track, the car, and step on it. The graphics are a show of their own and will blow your eyes away.

If you have one of those friends who keep telling you iPads or iPhones are not a proper gaming console, this is the app to rub their faces in. Just do it. I did and it felt great.

If you are lucky enough to have a friend that installed this game, there is more for you. You can play the game head to head via AirPlay or HDMI on a TV (I did it in a 42″ TV and I couldn’t even focus on the driving for the first few minutes, as I was drooling on the carpet).

If you are using an iPad 2, you’ll play looking at the TV, as you’ll have your iPad screen full with other information and the track map (check image above). If you are using an iPhone, you’ll have your own car view in your screen, and all cars on TV with split screen. Anyway you look at it, it’s just awesome.

It goes without saying that you have the usual multiplayer modes (WiFi / Online) modes available to you at any time.

If you download it now, you save some cash, as they lowered the price for a limited time.
My advice: get it for you and gift it to a friend, I know you’ll have a blast.

Check the video above and enjoy!
