The Blockheads
This one is perfect for Minecraft fans.
Majic Jungle Software brought us this awesome The Blockheads and you can get it for free, both for iPhone and iPad.

The idea is the same as Minecraft: you get a random generated world, with all kinds of resources (stone, wood, iron, water, fruits, animals, etc), mountains, lakes, caves and weather, and is up to you to explore it, build on it, and do whatever you feel like.
The game is user-friendly, with simple one-touch commands to move and perform actions. This game also reminds us of Terraria, so one would say it’s a blend between Minecraft and Terraria.

If you’re into exploration of worlds, this is a must have, since it’s free and Universal.
You can also invite friends to visit your world, and communicate via voice with excellent quality.
Try it and let me know how it goes!
Prince of Persia® Retro
By reading the title alone, I shouldn’t need to go any further. Just grab it and that’s it.

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, the good ol’ Prince of Persia by Ubisoft is back, now in pocket-size – but same amounts of fun. And if you hurry up, you can grab it for free!
The game is the same that was launched in 1989, and even the sounds were kept. A little bit of retouch in the graphics, but not too much. This game was absolutely amazing by the time it was launched. For the first time in video gaming world, a character had fluid movements, and it really looked like a person.

I was absolutely nuts about this title (and still am, in a way), and if you are around my age (never gonna disclose that little bit piece of intel), I’m sure you are too.
So, the controls. Four basic controls will perform the basic movements. Left, right, jump and crouch. A third button can be seen as the “special” button, as it changes according to the environment. Usually it makes the price walk carefully instead of the default running. This is useful to get near ledges without falling down, or even dodging some traps. However, if you are near an item, then the button will change and it will become the “pickup” button.

In other occasions, it will be used to fight, as seen in the image above.
Don’t let the graphics of this game fool you, this is not an easy title to play. It has puzzles and some of the latter foes are smart and will defeat you a few times before you get their M.O.
So, if you remember this game and can’t wait to play it again on your iDevice (it’s universal, yes!), grab it while it’s free. It won’t last long!
Monster Island
What if those angry birds were monsters? What if they lived in another planet?
Monster Island [HD] by Miniclip has the answer for you.

Using your instinct and your physics notions, you must sling your bombs away to hit the invader species.
Aim, set force, and shoot. As the levels become more complex, you’ll find yourself trying to solve puzzles in order to wipe them out before running out of bombs.
Each bomb has different properties, and you must take that into account.

Great visuals, fun and funny. Grab it while it’s free!

Remember Scribblenauts Remix?
So now if you have an iPhone 4S, you can yell at it to get things done!
Check it out:
It’s always fun to yell “PINK SLEEPY NINJA!!” to your device in public, don’t you think?
But then again, why would you want to spawn a pink sleepy ninja? That has no use at all! Or does it?
Mirror’s Edge
Ah, le parkour! Des croissants, gateaux, et le parkour!
….aaaaand that’s about 100% of the french language that I can deliver. Nonetheless, parkour is still an awesome sport. I used to do it back in the day, but we called it “run like a mad cheetah after ringing all doors from a random building”. Not as catchy as “parkour”, but it did work for us.
Mirror’s Edge™ by Electronic Arts is an amazing game, also available for PCs, that will give you a little bit of that sensation of freedom that only parkour and skydiving will provide you.

With very simple controls, based mostly on swiping your finger vertical or horizontally, this game is a true gift for your eyes and will keep your reflexes sharp and ready.
Your objective, ignoring the whole back story, is to get from point A to point B. Of course, if you know parkour, the fun is not to reach point B, but how you reach it.

Most of the levels are on top of buildings, with amazing background graphics and even more amazing falls, should you miss a step.
At some point, you’ll have to start fighting your way to the goal, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be allowed to stop. Knock them down on the go!

For the iPad version, you’ll be able to play it with a friend, in a head-to-head mode. Race your friend, uncovering secret passages and shortcuts to get ahead!

This game is free on the AppStore for a limited time, so you should grab it while you can.
This is a great non-stop action game, and if you like the sport, you’ll love Mirror’s Edge.

Veggie Samurai: Uprising
We all know that ninja (there is no plural form of “ninja”, learn something new everyday) love to chop their vegetables, right?
So in that spirit, today the nice game Veggie Samurai: Uprising by QuantumSquid Interactive is free and universal, so go bonkers with your iPhone and iPad!

The goal of the game is to chop your way up in a vertical world, and stay healthy at the same time.
Swipe you finger over a vegetable to chop it. You can swipe over more than one and that will give you a combo bonus. On the way, try to avoid the bombs, the poison, and obstacles that will block you from going up.

From time to time, you’ll have the ability to use power ups, that will make you rocket to infinity and beyond, or fall slower, saving your sorry derrière.
Play through 6 different modes:
Samurai: Slice veggies to climb – Get combos to boost up even higher – The bigger the combo the higher you go – Watch out for hazards – Keep an eye out for power-ups and other surprises to help you along.
Free Play: Slice and Climb until your heart is content – No hazards, but as the saying goes… no pain, no gain.
Hardcore: Use every ounce of skill – Hazards in inhumane quantities – Hazards are much stronger – Gravity has been increased – Potential to earn more SP credits.
Precision Mode: Tactical slicing – 3 lives – Only bombs – Hit a bomb, take a life – Earn extra lives.
Match Mode: Free falling chaos – “Match 3″ style game play – Slice combos of the same type of veggie – Get as many combos as you can before you land.
Harmony: Relaxed pace – No hazards – Time is now your only enemy – Get as high as you can in the time limit – Earn extra time.

Veggie Samurai is free for a limited time and is a fun game to have.

Snuggle Truck
Going for something fun, uncomplicated and hilarious?
Snuggle Truck by Owlchemy Labs (did you see what they did there with the name?) is your answer.

Get behind the wheel of a truck loaded with fuzzy snuggly cute doodeleedoo little baby animals and try to reach the finish line as fast as possible without losing a single one.
The concept of the game is not that special, I give you that, but once you start playing it, you’ll find yourself thinking “oh damn, is one of those productivity destructors!”
The gameplay is easy enough:
Finger on the right side of the screen to speed up, finger on the left side of the screen to slow down.
To correct the truck in mid-air, tilt the device.

Whenever a fuzzy rockets out of the back of the truck, adjust your speed accordingly to catch him and proceed to the finish line.
This game made me laugh, and so will you.
There is a version for iPhone and another for iPad, both free for grabs for a limited time.
Get it, and enjoy yourself.

Scribblenauts Remix
Stop the presses!
Scribblenauts Remix, by Warner Bros, just dropped to $0.99!
What do you mean, “I never heard of it”? Even if that’s the case, just pretend you are perfectly aware of this great game that will change your concept of interactive gaming.

In this amazing game, you’ll be helping Maxwell to get more Starite. How will you do this? Anyway you feel like.
You type it, and it shall become true. Really. See the image above? Watch the result:

Bam! Then the beaver eats the tree, and Maxwell gets his Starite!

The amount of different stuff you can create and interact with is astonishing, and each one of them is a different way to solve the problem for each level.
This has another huge advantage: you can play repeated levels just to try to solve the problem in a different way. Challenge the developers and invent crazy stuff, go bonkers with it!
Challenge the developers and try to come up with stuff that doesn’t exist! Did you find any? Tell me about it in the comments.
One app fits all, which means it’s universal, and right now is on sale and with $0.99 you take it home.
Don’t think about it anymore and just install it, you know you want to.

Crafted
Have you ever heard about/played Minecraft? If not, skip this one.
If you did and you were wondering about an iOS version, there you go.
Crafted, by domp, has just gone free and basically is a copy of Minecraft.

Well, it’s in 2D, but all the elements are there, including the same “pixellated” kind of graphics.
You start with nothing, and soon enough you’ll be able to make tools, containers, torches, and all things you’ll ever need to survive in your own world.

The game is single player only so far, and you’ll have your fair share of monsters to kill, weapons to build, castles to defend. Your imagination is your limit.
So, if you ever dreamt about having Minecraft for iPhone, grab it now while it’s free.
