Injustice: Gods Among Us
Hold on to your capes, this could be the best looking game out there so far!

If you’re a comics lover, this one will be a no-brainer.
Injustice: Gods Among Us by Warner Bros is a great looking game that puts you in the shoes of a super hero. Who do you like the most? Batman? Green Lantern? Wonder Woman? Super Man? Well, you have it.
Pick three heroes, and get into tag fights against other heroes.
The controls are simple enough. Taps and swipes will do the trick.

Here’s how it goes. Single taps will attack with basic kicks and punches. Swipes to left or right will take longer, but will deal more damage.
Sometimes, when you’re using basic attacks (usually after 3 basic attacks), a swipe indicator will appear on your screen. If you do it in time, a combo will happen.
As you fight, a “special hit” meter will start to fill up on the bottom of your screen. For each level filled, you can tap it to unleash a special power hit, usually with amazing graphics and animations. You will forget that you are playing it in a mobile device.

This awesome game is FREE and Universal, so start installing it.
Infinity Blade
Looking to fight a few epic battles? Need to go medieval on someone else’s head? Look no more.
Infinity Blade by Chair Entertainment Group has just dropped its price to zero, null, nada, take-it-please, you-can-have-it. Which means it’s free.

By this time, you must have heard about it already, as it is not a recent game.
First released in December of 2010, Infinity Blade brought the “wow factor” to the iOS devices. The graphics, the gameplay, the smoothness, it all contributed to the huge success of it. And it still does.
Granted, a sequel was released, but this title is still an awesome choice (and a free one, for a limited time).

The user interface is simple enough. Tap on each side to dodge attacks, tap the shield on the bottom to block, swipe swipe swipe to attack. The game will give you hints about when to strike, by slowing down time whenever your enemy has his guard down.
The game is full of cut scenes, and sometimes you will want to kill your enemy just to see the final kill animation. It is that awesome.

So, if you are ready to deliver some pure damage, install it. It’s free for a limited time and it is Universal.
Galaxy on Fire 2™
Holy guacamole, batman! I’ll jump right to the point:
Galaxy on Fire 2 [HD] is FREE for a very limited time! Stop reading, install it, continue reading.

This awesome 3D app combines elements of RPG, spaceships, adventure, market notions and lots of travelling.

- Over 100 planets and space stations
- More than 30 ships ready to customize with hundreds of different weapons, upgrades and cargo

Maybe the aspect I love the most about this game is that you can do missions, or you can follow the main storyline, or you can just ignore all that and do your own thing. Or do it all at once. It’s your choice, your freedom, and whatever path you decide to follow, the game keeps its high quality and fun.

You can even choose to kill pirates or to become one. In space! How awesome is that? Oh, Firefly memories…
If you are more of a bargain person, you can start a career in trading. Travel through planets and space stations, check their goods at local stores, compare prices, transport cargo from system to system and make profit. Everything is allowed!

So, are you ready to start exploring space, the final frontier?

Avengers Initiative
After the last Avengers movie, we all have a new-found affection for Mr. Green Guy. He unleashes such devastation without blinking that you can’t help but worship the dude.
Making the best of it, Marvel Entertainment launched this first chapter of Avengers Initiative, featuring Hulk. Awesome.

The background story is the same as in the first Ghostbusters movie: all bad guys are set loose and your mission is to return them to their prisons.
As the game is formatted for touch devices, you can count with lots of swiping, tapping, and finger combo-ing (real words? Nah, I don’t need real words, I make up my own) and reflexes challenges to get ahead in this game.
The game was designed with HD visuals, so no complaints in the graphics department.

During the game, you’ll be able to equip your Hulk with items and costumes (no, you can’t dress him as Carmen Miranda. Yes, I looked into it.), and super powers to optimize your destruction capabilities.
Marvel also made the game compatible with their Marvel XP service, a social network of their own, to give you extras, such as unlock achievement badges, character dossiers, and other bonus content exclusive to the Marvel XP community. If you prefer, you can also connect it to Facebook and share your accomplishments with your friends.

This game presents you with the first chapter (let’s call it ‘The Hulk Chapter’), and 3 more are on their way. Soon you’ll be able to play with Thor, Captain America and Iron Man.
Be on the lookout for more developments about this title.
A little warning from Marvel:
Optimized for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the New iPad
PLEASE NOTE: iPad (1st Generation), iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, and iPod touch devices NOT SUPPPORTED.
UFO Hotseat
If you are familiar with the best-game-ever X-Com: Ufo Defense, stop reading this and go to the bottom of this article to start downloading. It’s free for a limited time.
Now, for those of you that never knew what really happiness is, let’s take a quick tour, shall we?
UFO Hotseat by Andrey Davydov is the best next thing after X-Com, and it is an attempt to bring X-Com to your iOS device. Well, they succeeded. And more than that, they added a little bonus: multiplayer! Whaaaaaaa?

The graphics are also improved, since the original game dates from 1993.
You are in control of an anti-alien organization, and your objective is to confront them on the field. You are given a team and weapons.
Each team member has a limited number of actions, and pretty much anything he does can be considered an action; walking, shooting, throwing a grenade… you get the picture.
So, at the beginning of each level, you must start moving your troops around, using their allowed moves (or don’t, it’s your choice). After you’re done, end the turn and it’s your opponent’s time to shine. You won’t be able to see his movements unless your troops have a direct eyesight on them.

This is an immersive addicting game, and it’s universal and free for a limited time. Don’t wait any longer!
Grand Theft Auto 3
I don’t think I’ll need to explain too much how this game works, right?
Grand Theft Auto 3 by Rockstar Games is the iOS version of the well-known GTA for other systems, and boy, it does look good!

If you already liked the PC version of this game, let me tell you, you won’t be disappointed at this one.
I was afraid the controls would ruin it all, but I was happy to discover that there was nothing to fear. The controls are highly customizable, and I seemed to get along pretty well with the default ones.
When you’re out of a vehicle, the left side will be your pad to move around. The pad is not fixed, so you don’t have to look at it every time. If you lift your finger from the screen, the pad will disappear, and when you touch the screen again, it will appear wherever your finger is. This is a very successful trick that has been being used on some iOS games, and here is no different. Works like a charm!

On the right side, you will have the jump, run, shoot, “get in the car” and camera angle buttons.
To rotate the camera, just drag your finger anywhere in the screen. Great success!
When inside a vehicle, the controls change (as they should).
The pad on the left side turns into left and right arrows, allowing you to turn. At the right side, you will have the brakes, accelerator, the hand brake (to pull off those turns everybody loves), the shooting button, the “get out of the vehicle” button, the horn and the camera angle setting.

Depending on the vehicle and on what you’re doing, some buttons may be added (taxi, ambulance, cop missions, jumping stunts, firing options, etc)
The game plays pretty much as the classic does, with all the missions, the unlockable content and one of my favorites aspects of this game ever: the radio!
I am a long time fan of the GTA radio stations, and I was thrilled to find out that they were included in the iOS version.

This game is really looking awesome and it’s Universal, so yay for iPhones and iPads!
I really enjoyed playing this on my desktop PC, so being able to play it on the bus, train, boring party and doctor’s waiting room brings a whole new level to it.
This title is on sale, and you can take it for $0.99
Death Rally
From our last post, you can tell that we love road carnage. Thank Jeebus for MadMax, right?
So today you can grab for free this very cool Death Rally by Remedy Entertainment.

In a no man’s land, you’ll be participating in the most deadly races of all times.
Using the usual controllers (joystick on the left side and shooting on the right), you’ll must focus on getting to the finish line alive, while killing as many opponents as you can.
Equip and upgrade your vehicle with weapons, armor and explosive awesomeness.

This game can be played solo or online, and it will be free for a limited time, so get to it!
Also, it is playable in all iOS devices (universal goodness, how we love you!)
During the game, you may find a few surprise guests, such as Duke Nukem, Barry Wheeler and John Gore.
Check the video below and install this fun game, free for a limited time.
Smash Cops
Many people love to play GTA since its very first release. I know I do.
And as far as I know, the main appeal of this game isn’t the story or the missions. It’s the possibility of unleashing hell and havoc, driving like a mad tasmanian devil and crashing as much as possible.
So now imagine a game only about that. Never mind you are the cop here, you can cause destruction all the same.

Smash Cops, by Hutch is just amazing.
I am usually very careful about this kind of games, because it ends up being a controller nightmare, totally confusing and user unfriendly.
Not this time.
With a new revolutionary way to control your vehicle, this game has jumped to the top of my “GTA like games”.
And as some people may not like this new “put your finger behind your car” technique, there is also the option of using the old-fashioned joystick, and even choose if it will be placed on the left or right side of the screen. Good stuff here, mates.
I have played it both ways, and it is awesome no matter which one you select.
I would suggest the joystick for iPhones, because your finger tends to get in the way of everything else, but on iPad go for the new way.

The graphics are amazing, even on the iPhone (did I mention this game is universal?). Lots of stuff to destroy in the scenery, lots of traffic, lots of detail.
For each level you complete, you may earn stars (up to 5). If you reach a certain number of stars, you get promoted all the way up to captain (100 stars). I’m still at 85 stars, so I’m Lieutenant.
Also, to unlock new vehicles (there are 5 of them), you will need a predetermined amount of stars (you gotta play with the Brutus, it’s just pure carnage). If you don’t have patience to earn stars, you can pay to unlock all cars.
There are 22 levels (I’ve finished them all after a few hours), and this is the only problem I see with this game; it is too short, in fact. There is no “free roam” option, so once you’re done, it’s done. Maybe in a future update? *wink wink Hutch*

In order to arrest the suspect, you have to smash his car to little nuggets of metal. Side and front smashes are preferable, but they are, of course, harder to do.
If you need help in a particular level, you may want to try the Super Cop power up. If you play all levels, by the end of it you’ll have 4 Super Cops. To get more, pay up. A pack of 3 goes for $0.99.
This Power up will do 2 things:
1 – Paint your car red devil
2 – Increase the awesomeness and power of your smashing and hitting.
With the Super Cop, I managed to arrest the suspect driving the rig in less than 50 seconds. More power to the Freak!

But wait, not every mission is a pursuit mission. Some are just mini games.
Smash a load of cars illegally parked in a car park, weave through a course laid out by cones, dodge traffic on a highway and collect evidence throughout the city.
Completing each one of the above will give you a Super Cop.

To help you a little bit, there is a RAM meter. When blue, if you tap anywhere in the screen, your car will rocket forward for a brief period of time, just so you can smash a suspect even harder. After that, you’ll have to wait for the meter to fill up again. Use it also to escape from the guys chasing you on the missions against the clock. Think of it as a nitro.
Also, whenever chasing a suspect, your partners will join you in the pursuit. Make sure you don’t wreck them or points will be taken from you (there is an achievement if you wreck lots of cops, but hey, they are your friends!! Except for Paul. He was making flirty eyes with Christine. Ooooh that Paul….)
Smash cops goes for $2.99 and it’s worth every penny. Go get it and thank me later!
Shake Spears!
Today, you may call me Sir Freakalot, from the distant kingdom of iOShood, App district. Why? Because it’s awesome. And because I’ll be talking about Shake Spears! by Alawar Entertainment.

This cool game will take you back to the ages of knights. More specifically, to the famous jousts!
You are a knight and you must joust your way up to fame and glory by defeating increasingly difficult opponents and spearing their heads to the ground.
Don’t be merciful. Why on earth would you be merciful in a joust? Really, c’mon!

The game is simple enough.
With a finger on the left side of the screen you will control your shield. Finger up = shield up. Same rule applies for finger down.
Finger on the right side will control the spear. Raise and lower your spear by raising and lowering your finger.
Now control both at the same time. There’s the trick. Try to hit them and avoid their shields, and at the same time try to defend their strike with your shield.

The “run” towards each other is very short and fast, so your reflexes must be on tip-top shape.
To help you, you can upgrade your knight’s armor, or buy power ups and other aids to gain advantage over the enemy.
Be warned, the enemies also use their own power ups and spells, so make each one count!
This game is free for a limited time and you’ll have lots of fun with it.
Hero of Sparta II
Another Gameloft game went free, and this time it seems it will be forever!
Good news for those who were excited to play Hero of Sparta II, if you don’t mind the ad banners. It won’t get in the way, I promise.

The game is fun, and despite the controls on the right side being too close to each other, it’s not really a problem.
One could argue that it is possible to kill all enemies by tapping the right side of the phone madly, while walking forward. And one would be almost right. There is no “technique” to it. Just face the enemy and tap tap tap swipe tap tap swipe rinse and repeat.

I still haven’t played it all, but so far so good.
In this game, you are Argos, returning to your homeland. It just so happens that things aren’t exactly normal, and you end up facing zombies and all kind of monsters. Because you are that badass.

This game is free for iPhone, and for now its iPad counterpart goes for $6.99
